  •  kerry didn't talk much about body armor... (none)
for a very simple reason - he voted against the 87 billion dollar bill - which included body armor.  so the body armor issue actually worked against kerry - bush said many times during the campaign that kerry voted against body armor for the troops, and bush was right (since kerry voted against the bill).
    •  Get the facts (none)
Kerry voted against paying for the body armour with increased debt. The bill passed anyway. The Administration did not provide the armour period. It seems Halliburton overcharged the Administration more than the companies, who are just now ramping up production to produce additional vehicle armour, needed to complete the vehicle armour. So Kerry voted for paying for armour, the majority voted to borrow the money for the armour, instead of armour we overpaid halliburton. Any questions?

      •  i get it (none)
I understand how the vote on the bill unfolded and why kerry voted for and then against (as the saying went).  sorry for being unclear - but what i meant to point out in my post was how the body armor issue was being used against him, rather than how it could have worked for him.  The intricacies of the different versions of the bill and how they would have been financed was too complicated to explain to most people, so kerry ended up looking as if he voted against body armor, rather than voting to fund it with a rollback of tax breaks for the top 2 percent. bush totally took advantage of this, so kerry more or less stayed away from the issue, that's what i meant to say.  my post was not a critique of kerry, rather a statement about how his vote on the bill was being used against him, successfully, i might add, by bush.

Kerry should have said "I voted for paying for the body armor"
