More in U.S. Say Health Coverage Is Not Gov’t. Responsibility

Marks significant shift from the attitudes of the past decade

    by Frank Newport

PRINCETON, NJ -- More Americans now say it is not the federal government's responsibility to make sure all Americans have healthcare coverage (50%) than say it is (47%). This is a first since Gallup began tracking this question, and a significant shift from as recently as three years ago, when two-thirds said ensuring healthcare coverage was the government's responsibility.

    •  Right Wing talker brainwash (5+ / 0-)

For many years, day in and day out, the likes of Limbaugh, Savage, and Hannity have been bashing any sort of governmental intervention to give americans a better deal in their lives, and this has resulted in many americans getting brainwashed into voting against their best interests.

      •  An accredited, online university for all. (3+ / 0-)

The government needs to create a national free online university  to teach people new skills It should be able to grant university level credit and eventually, degrees.

Lifelong learning is crucially important to our nation's economic success in the future.

For degree granting, to prevent fraud, they would need to allow people to take (proctored, physically present) tests.

That would give people the chance to make constructive use of free time.

MIT has put a lot of opencourseware on the Web..

"Public Option" doesn't bend the cost curve. But it gladly breaks families. Its a system designed with a catch 22, pay the extra costs, subsidies vanish
