of all that - and its beautifully said!

Sometimes I think of what he's trying to do as a re-balancing of our almost total embrace of the yin and rejection of yang. There are other times when the analogy feels like an embrace of the feminine to balance out or masculine focus (and I don't use those words to refer to gender). And finally, another frame I've thought about is the difference between dominance and partnership as a source of power.

But what you're describing and I agree with is that he's trying to make a HUGE meta-shift in how we think, connect and prioritize that goes far beyond any one policy issue.

I was just talking about this yesterday with a couple of co-workers and said that my one concern is whether or not we're ready for that re-balancing.

    •  I think we all want that shift (5+ / 0-)

To make the world our home (with its masculine and feminine influences) instead of a hostile place we need to compete for space within.  Where our voices are heard and our ideas are considered, where decisions are arrived at rather than imposed.  (I've never known a good parent who only made strict rules and never listened to the children).  Life is always partnership to those who would be happy.

We'll be ready when we stop thinking of the world as a building we rent apartments in and start thinking of it as a house we were born in and in which we inhabit various rooms at various times.
