    red/blue and much more to do w/ when a city was built. Older cities tend to have been built for pedestrians and w/ mass transit. Newer ones are much more car-centric.

      The cities in red states are not more "car-centric" because they are newer.  They're not substantially newer (with some exceptions).  

      They are more "car-centric" because of good old red-state governing that favors cars over mass transit, sprawl over planning, and highways over rail.
