I have practically a closet full of them and am happy to get rid of them this way.

    •  I just wanted to say (3+ / 0-)

knowing what little I know about your failing nephrology, and that you're on dialysis and in dire need a of kidney or two, I am always thrilled beyond words to see you post here, Kitsap.

Your potentially fatal condition is enough impetus alone to incentivize us all to fight for HCR.

      •  Thanks. Especially if you know WHY. (4+ / 0-)

I am literally an example of the failings of our health care system. With a different system, it wouldn't have mattered that I could not afford insurance and that I would be rejected the moment I applied. I still would have gotten care. Not here in the U.S., though, the country with "the greatest health care system in the world".

Because I had no insurance in 2004-2005, for a year and a half, my diabetes went uncontrolled and so did my hypertension. My one remaining functional kidney was not able to withstand that, so a year and a half after I got health care again, I was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease.

One visit to a doctor to get renewed prescriptions for the two generic medications I was on at the time - one each for diabetes and high blood pressure - would have kept me off the dialysis machine. That was all I needed. Couldn't get it. Not in the "greatest health care system in the world".
