  •  Just as Gulf War 1 (9+ / 0-)

was kicking off I was flying a 747-400 from JFK to Tokyo. Passenger loads had fallen off throughout the country because of the fear of terrorism, real fear but terrorism in the US, not so much. Still, many were scared spitless to fly and 9/11 was ten years away. Being the crew for the second half of a 12 hour flight I was just hanging around as the passengers started to board. I was in the upper deck galley to ask the fight attendants for a cup of coffee. They were discussing the topic du jour, possible terrorism. They kept chatting as one poured a cup. Neither I nor the F/As saw that two male passengers had followed me into the galley. One of the women asked if I'm concerned for the flight. One of the guys announced his presence with a snort and a chuckle, "Terrorists?! What do I have to worry about fuckin' terrorists? I ride the NY subway to and from work every day! May I have one of those?"

Different time and people with a spine. There seem to be a few left but they seem to not be Republican leaders. I'm amazed that so many of these clowns are descended from the likes of Winston Churchill and FDR. Well, maybe not FDR, that's a poor example. He was a pussy Democrat wasn't he? Seriously, we need to pound the message of disdain for the conservative weak kneed fearfulness every time they seem to think they and not the revered troops might be in harm's way. They're all Blood & Guts as long as it's someone else's blood and guts. Disgusting.

    •  I rember well (0+ / 0-)

I had a very enjoyable trip to the US that year with a cheap flight from London and Delta pass giving me free flights around the US as long as there was an empty seat ton the flight, I was never bumped once, everyone seemed to be afraid of the non-existant terrorism.

Real terrorist attacks back in London

London and New York are not afraid.

      Nebraska not so sure!
