  •  Rice & beans (3+ / 0-)

Every trip to the grocery store includes buying bags of rice & beans, or jars of tomato sauce and bags of pasta.  Our credit union has a donation bin that I put these into.  (I do have an ulterior motive... the CU has a relationship with the local ReMax office, and one of the agents there owns a hot air balloon.  Every so often, they draw names of people who have put food in the bin to get a hot air balloon!)  The contents of the bin get sent to the local food pantry every week.

I've also been clearing out my clothes closet.  Our rescue mission operates the Community Closet, where anyone who needs a hot shower and a set of clean clothes can come in and get them.  This week, we took a large box of women's clothes, a box of coats, and a suitcase full of t-shirts to them.  When a Goodwill store opened in town, their donations fell off, so they were happy to see the clothes coming.
