    You're quite right, there's no need to worry about pre-existing conditions or rescission provisions if people can just get their health care via Medicare.  But I would disagree that HR 676 is the best bill to push if and when healthcare goes to Reconciliation process.  I think Pete Stark's Americare bill is a better alternative for the simple reason that it opens up Medicare to everyone without raising taxes.

    This proposal, unlike that of Obama/Baucus/Kennedy actually controls total costs while getting to truly 100% universal coverage, according to independent analysis by the Commonwealth Fund and Lewin Group.  It is public option on steroids and single payer lite: The gist is that is expanded and improved Medicare for all, but you can keep the health insurance you have if you prefer.
