And I have one question for those who want to kill the bill over the abortion issue and that is:  Would you rather have John Boehner Speaker of the House and Mitch McConnell Senate majority leader who would likely pass bills making it illegal for ANY WOMAN to even get an abortion?

    •  And then I have to ask... (6+ / 0-)

How is it that in eight years of Republican political dominance nothing that terrible was allowed to get this close to passage? Do you realize how low you are placing the bar, and what that would do for negotiations on anything going forward? You do realize that, viewed in its entirety, that at that point conservatives will have actually won without causing Obama's "Waterloo?"

At a minimum, that amendment has to go. I understand your point, but your attitude of concession is dangerous, and if it were to happen, 2010 will be a foregone conclusion as that enthusiasm gap will widen exponentially.

      Slap happy is a platform.

      •  Repubs had a tiny majority and different leaders (0+ / 0-)

Bill Frist was a Republican Harry Reid.  Mitch McConnell is a master legislator who would be VERY, VERY dangerous as majority leader.
