    •  Generally speaking, it is... (0+ / 0-)

... but if we were more careful, we could avoid people like Stupak or Lieberman weaseling in.

I've been thinking a great deal about this matter tonight, Micheline.

I think if we cannot vote for the best Democrats in our districts, since some live in red districts, we can still donate to help the best Democrats out of area. For all of my ventings, and refusal to vote for candidates I think really are "just like the GOP," I've decided to ACTIVELY BACK certain candidates out of my area... because they are better Democrats in areas where better Democrats could win.

I'm holding strong here for Marcy Winograd. She's a dynamo who any Democrat would pretty much do cartwheels for. Lois Herr is taking on Pitts (of Stupak Pitts). And there are certainly others.

I've become a great fan of some of the ActBlue lists that go around, since if I cannot help in my area, I'll send my help to another part of the country.

That actually does work in the long term.

      Even if I'm a $5 a shot donation gal...

So that might be a strategy we (or I) want to talk more actively about, rather than just think in terms of how disappointed I've been.

I'm proud to be holding out in my solidly blue district. And also glad to be pushing for better Democrats in areas where they have a fighting chance to win with a little nudge.

And there are always GOTV efforts that I try to get involved with.

You'd probably never guess I'd actively campaigned for three wonderful Democrats in my local area, doing voter registration, door knocking, canvassing, etc... as a volunteer. One did win, and thanks to her, we had a vital vote for an important environmental measure that was being threatened. I'm proud of that.
