  •  all of these calculations don't include CH4: (7+ / 0-)

methane is going to the thing that sneaks up and smacks us in the head, and it's going happen a hell of a lot sooner than 2050.

We are much closer to a massive set of events breaking over than these predictions indicate.

Methane persistence in the upper atmosphere is probably already increasing at rates we can't measure to saturation of the natural processes that work to keep a steady state level. The amount of methane being released from melting permafrost areas and from oceans, lakes, riverbeds as they release it is no doubt adding tremendously to the current conditions.

All of these predictions from the IPCC are probably too optimistic.

And I believe we've already reached one or more tipping points. All we can do about climate change is adapt. The old America hates the idea. The emerging "green community" will eventually stop trying to stop or ameliorate the situation, and start coming up with stuff to get our grandkids and great-grandkids through the coming holocoust.

By the way. I'm an old hippie. We tried telling you people this shit for FUCKIN' YEARS. You brushed us off as reprobates and charlatans.

Too bad it's only hind-sight which has 20-20 vision.
