    ... we'd expect between a 4m city and a 1m city that are less than two hours apart by 110mph tilt train ... since as I noted a couple of weeks ago, Phoenix is on one main east/west STRACNET corridor to LA and Tuscon is on the next one north, also essentially to LA, and a connecting corridor between the two would be an extremely useful investment in system capacity, allowing traffic to spill over from one corridor to the other in the event of problems.

    If we took energy seriously, we would have already electrified STRACNET, and that would be a 100mph+ rail connection we would pursue for a more robust freight network ... the support for the 110mph tilt train services on a very strong passenger corridor would be an additional positive side-effect.
