  •  Oh come on. (6+ / 0-)

This is so tired.  We have fucking disasters on our hands, caused by lousy governance and a hard sell from the right on how government is THE ENEMY, a public that seems to be under major anesthesia for the last 30 years, and the culprit is a few guys in the West Wing?

Against stupidity, the gods themselves contend in vain.

    •  The dems can't afford (3+ / 0-)

to completely abandon the left again. They must LEAD instead of reading polls and trying to position themselves. The Repubs have won over the years by having the guts to take positions on the basis of conviction, the dems have lost for the absence of conviction. I find it harder and harder to define what the Democratic party stands for...and that will lose them elections.

why I'm grateful for Alan Grayson and the other ballsy progressives in Congress.  We have some role models there, finally, for how to stand up and be Democrats.

What I'm tired of is scapegoating in general - Rahm Emmanuel, or Tim Geithner, or Robert Gates all seem to be vying for the position of Progressive's Most Hated Denizen.  I guess there are a few others.

They may not be purified progressives but given what Obama inherited from the Bush Cheney Cabal I'm quite happy to have people in the administration who have experience with how things work in the real world.  This was not the time for a bunch of newcomers who needed 6 months to figure out the floor plan.  Tim Geithner didn't crash Wall Street single-handed, Robert Gates didn't start the wars and mismanage them all to hell, and Rahm the Enforcer is going to come in handy when it's time to crack heads.
