  •  David, I've now read the diary you linked me to. (0+ / 0-)

While you referenced the nuclear option, the main thrust of the diary was your statement that you were coming around to reconsidering the reconciliation process.

What I'm hoping to see discussed more widely here at DKos is a specific examination of the pros and cons of using the nuclear option now to do away with the filibuster across the board.

I attempted to generate that discussion with my diary the other night.  While it got over 200 comments, what I didn't get from the feedback was a sense of whether or not 50+ Dem Senators would actually come on board to support it.

I'll keep trying to generate further discussion.  My personal view is that we can no longer afford to have every legislative initiative proposed by the Dems watered down to nothing, just to appease a handful of Conservadems.  With the recently polled enthusiasm gap, I think it's critical that somehow we manage to deliver more robust accomplishments with respect to the agenda the Dems were chosen to enact.

    I SO want to believe it's 11DC.

    •  For that... (0+ / 0-)

You can have a look at the 2005-06 posts.

Or I can simply tell you that no, there aren't 50 votes for that. I'd be surprised if there were 20.

      •  I would hope that you're mistaken, (0+ / 0-)

but I'll check out those earlier posts before I let my fantasy of simple majority rule in the Senate become obsessive.

Thank you for the continued responses.
