  •  What happened to "MS" of MSNBC? (1+ / 0-)

The MS stands for Microsoft and last I heard, they have enough in the bank to buy whatever this Comcast entity becomes. For cash. They like buying people out for total control of an industry. Where are they in all of this?

They own 50% of MSNBC, the other half being held by... General Electric.

So I imagine they're not objecting because this is what General Electric wants.  There's two angles to this... Comcast gaining the property, and GE dumping it.

My guess is they want out. The synergies were never there. Maybe Comcast could make it work out better, but they would probably rather use Microsoft's support with something like G4 TV. Nonstarter I am afraid.

Perhaps they could buy back the whole channel, keep it on basic cable. After all, they sell Windows for 2 or $300 a copy for every computer it's on (while a FREE system, Linux, is pretty much as good), you'd think they have the money.

Microsoft divested itself of the cable channel operation while continuing to maintain its partnership with the website.
