Here in Northeast Ohio, our daily paper — one of the few that can afford to pay a lot of reporters — is a biased abomination which neglects a lot of crucial subjects and withholds information to benefit the wealthy corporate power structure. As an unpaid blogger, I (and other local bloggers) exposed far more relevant information — much of which they chose to keep from the public in order to spin their marketing angle. WE reported news; THEY campaigned for a side they had pre-chosen by selecting information favorable to their position and unfavorable to the one they opposed. They should have registered as a PR firm, not a news outlet.

Thanks for the www.jenniferbrunner.com in your signature. I just heard about Brunner for Senate in a DK post yesterday (about dumping blue dog dems).

I haven't trusted NEOH "news" media for many years. Stopped watching Cleveland News in 1979.

Have not read the Akron, Cleveland, Canton newspapers for at least a decade.

What is your local news blog?

political parties. Between ongoing court decisions, the modern economy and the prehistoric 1st Amendment language, the media aren't doing anything wrong.

And as you're seeing, journalism is only possible in our system on an amateur basis or otherwise for very small niche audiences.

It can't be done to serve the mainstream electorate.

Like everything else in modern life, you can have all the quality you want in exchange for giving up almost all quantity.

in particular her husband's defense business. She wants to keep the status quo because it has made her very, very rich.
