  •  You think Bill Clinton murdered Vince Foster? (0+ / 0-)

You try to make leaps that big you end up falling off a cliff

This isn't sean hannity or glen beck craziness made up from nothing...its worse, its bill orielly where you take a few facts, get what you are looking for, and then pound the conclusion as obvious because...well hey you have a couple of facts that point to it, and no one else has sent out a hit team or anti-hit team, so you must be right!

I see an incredibly admirable woman who, as a workaholic, got involved with someone who also spent a lot of time doing his own thing

the guy got creepier over time, and eventually she left him, Baucus was also getting divorced, and the two hit it off, but as high-stress relationships go, it didn't last, but Baucus still thought she was qualified, and he knew if he said "oh yeah, i fucked her" she'd never get the job, so he approved the list at first, then eventually they probably talked it out and thought it was a bad idea, and they both ended up doing the right thing

this version sounds a lot more plausible, and gives people the benefit of the doubt on extremely personal matters

but really, this Bennet=creepy=Baucus&Mistress are evil...is such fucking bullshit...I guess Hillary Clinton shouldn't have run for senate or taken over at state because her husband made a total idiot out of himself in the late 90s...and she didn't even divorce him!

    again, this is ri-fucking-diculous

I'm sure you will find many who would agree with. But a FEDERAL APPELATE COURT made the PROFESSIONAL EVALUATION that her actions as a prosecutor "violate the fundamental notions of fair play on which our legal system is based." Thats on the record. Thats what a professional evaluation would examine. Personal opinions like yours are always good for character witness, but this was about the worst thing an appellate court can say about prosecutor: they witheld evidence, they were not fair, that they had compromised relationships with witnesses. You might ignore it, but the Senate Judiciary Committee certainly would not and neither would the White House.

so he approved the list at first, then eventually they probably talked it out and thought it was a bad idea, and they both ended up doing the right thing

So one minute she's one of the best people in Montana to be U.S. Attorney, and the next minute she's got a job so low on the justice department totem pole even I wouldn't accept it. What happened to alter this evaluation? An improper relationship? Well, that began last summer. The nomination was made early this year. Did it only recently become improper, because if it was proper he shouldn't have withdrawn. Maybe the truth of the matter is that she faced an steep climb in a Senate confirmation process because she wasn't qualified for the job.

this version sounds a lot more plausible, and gives people the benefit of the doubt on extremely personal matters

This diary isn't about their personal relationship. This diary is about Baucus letting that relationship spill over into his duties as a Senator. Had she been a former federal prosecutor with a distinguished record in federal law enforcement, no problem. Had she been a senior law partner or a former Attonrey-General with a distinguished record of practice, no problem. What you have here is a prosecutor run out of town because her impartiality and professionalism is being called into question by a federal appellate court.

        And more visceral justification
        for my rejection of authoritarians
of any stripe and my lifelong status as
        a registered independent.

With Ds like this, does it even
remotely matter if the Rs are in decline?

Thanks for all of your efforts.
