    you gave here, but I have personal experience. I now work for myself. Interactive marketing. I do some bidding and got some work on eLance. For the majority of my clients (almost all referral) I charge $50 to $75 an hour. But weeks I don't have 40 hours of work I will bid on jobs. No reason to have free time you are not attempting to make money on.

    It is stunning, I mean stunning to see how low folks will go. And I know many are in China or India. The difference in cost of living is huge of course.

    Somebody might post a job request to write an long article on email SPAM filters. I follow this topic on a daily basis, but it would take me maybe 15 hours (cause they want backup documents) to put together. I can't charge what I charge per hour, and I have the down time, so I bid $375 (drop my rate 50 to 75%).

    Somebody gets the contract for 100 bucks.
