and grew up in a small Southern Baptist town. So when we were young, my brother and I were taught to believe in Santa Claus so we wouldn't blow it for the other kids and make people mad at us.

Bro is 4 years older, and when I was 5, he informed me there was no Santa. No big deal. I told my parents I knew, and they said, ok, so we aren't going to have Christmas presents anymore. Just Hanukkah presents. This was like in September.

So, even though I'd gotten great Hanukkah presents, I woke up early on Christmas morning, ran into the living room, and there was zilch. Nada. Nothing. I went into shock. Though I knew Santa wasn't real, I hadn't really grasped the no presents on Christmas thing.

I was in such shock, that my Mom went down to the local drug store, the only place open on Christmas, and all she could find was a comb, brush and mirror set.

Within a few minutes, I accidentally broke the mirror, and my brother responded by taunting me for hours that I was going to have 7 years of bad luck.

It was a tragic day in my young life.

    I got better.
