    I would get a response ... don't take yourself so seriously, this was a lighthearted diary.  

    I'm lighthearted too and I love Christmas but it really is so terrible at it's heart.  I remember thinking a lot about this when my kids were little.  What would I say if they asked the question ... why did other kids get so much more.  Actually, I did get those questions but it seemed like the kids knew not to push it.  I wondered if they really knew there was no Santa and were just playing along.

    And, the kid down the street would get a dime from the tooth fairy and we would give a lot more (usually because we were too tired to think about it and would just throw some coins out, whatever we had in our pockets at the moment).

    This one (not on the subject of Santa blew me away):  That same kid asked me why we weren't dressed up for church and I said, "We don't go to church".  The mom glared at me and said, "They will go later".  Why didn't I say, "No, we never go to church".  

    How healthy is it to learn in college that some people never go to church.
