    and perhaps a compromise solution could be brought up that could lessen the filibuster's power if the 51 votes to do away with the filibuster entirely isn't there.

    Last time the filibuster issue was brought up, it was the Republicans who brought it up over judicial nominations.  A gang of 14, 7 of each party, made a compromise over the nominations issue but not the filibuster.

    The numbers could be there depending on how the 2010 elections goes.  I already think Lieberman, Landrieu, and Nelson are no's because it would lessen their power.  

    But 51 votes could be there.  We won't know unless we try.
