  •   This kind of thing drives me crazy (14+ / 0-)

And sadly, the ignorant masses just swallow it whole.

We know that these protests were not only "over 99%" peaceful, but 99.9999 whatever.

And large money goes down on the "anarchists" and "violent" protesters not being legit. It's far, far to easy for corporate lackeys to garner all the attention.

So what we are really seeing is 99.99% of the media coverage focused on 0.0001% of the crowd.

I may also be a bit worked up about it because I finally watched the movie Battle in Seattle last night. (It was well-made, IMO.)

Knowing what I do about the events on the ground there in 1999, and then still seeing reports like this today:

"The police rounded up protesters in a pre-planned manoeuvre," he told the BBC.

"It was unprovoked. They rounded up a group, including women and children, and pushed them into a store, before splitting them into groups and handcuffing them."

A police spokesman said just four or five out of 968 arrested would be charged and appear in court.

When will we be able to change this decade-long travesty of oppression?

The best way to save the planet is to keep laughing!
