  •  People support HCR, oppose this bill (0+ / 0-)

... mainly because of a poor job of all of communicating what is in THIS bill.

    •  That may be true (0+ / 0-)

and if so, THAT'S where the failure happened.

Once the polls are against the bill, however, any person with any knowledge whatsoever about politics is going to expect that people who are waivering will start to line up against it.

It doesn't make any sense now to start gnashing teeth over people lining up against it.  That was an inevitable result of losing the communication war and losing public support.

Again, I understand all the arguments about how the public is stupid, they don't understand, they are being deceived by Fox News, they really ought to support the Democratic proposal.  But they don't.

If anything is going to change, that public opinion line has to change first.  Otherwise, the waiverers are going to do the politically expedient thing.

      •  Okay, you are right (0+ / 0-)

And this is why Democrats are going to lose Congress in 2010.

Most progressives won't believe them when they explained that they worked hard, but things didn't work out. Because they didn't.

We cannot change public opinion, unfortunately. The people who have the influence to do so are the people who pissed this chance away, the people in Washington. The Senators and Obama.

Many will keep fighting, but many will just give up. What is the point? We have delivered one of the strongest majorities to the Democrats in recent history, and they still couldn't get things done.
