    Remember, Jesus was from Nazareth, on the shores of Galilee. When I used to teach Sunday school I would compare it to being from out in the Ozarks someplace. A remote backwater that wasn't even important to the towns nearby.

    The comparison gets a little closer when you remember that Nazarenes had a distinct accent. Jesus couldn't open his mouth without revealing where he was from.

    Remember Nathaniel's question, "Can any good thing come out of Nazareth?" That was what it was like to be from Nazareth. It probably contributed to the Powers That Be rejecting Him and His message, or at least it didn't help. That a hick from the sticks like Jesus would have had so many people accept His message . . . well, He must have been something special indeed.
