I knew the part about this not kicking in for another 5 years but some on Daily Kos have been trashing Dr. Dean and many other good solid Progressives for opposing what is looking more like poison rather than a medicinal drink by the Senate in reforming health care.  Dr. Dean is alerting us to these facts and it isn't because he is a doctor that I trust his judgement It is because he has been working on reforming Health care for as long as many of us have.

With individual mandates on the table where people will be penalized for not having private health insurance and the real possibility that facing a Republican controlled congress in 2011, subsidies to help people buy insurance on the national exchange will be cut to ribbons, patients may find that they can't afford the rising costs of health insurance and no or little to help subsidize their care.  That is what is happening without the subsidies for those of us with insurance.  Rising costs, higher deductibles and limited care in what is now covered.

Severe fines imposed by the federal government on families who can't afford to buy insurance is a sweet and diabolical deal that places patients in extreme jeapardy.

The more that is being leaked out about the Senate version and we still have a way to go before Senator Liebermann is satisfied, if he ever is, the more I believe this bill should be stripped of anything other than provisions on funding community clinics, preventitive care with some modest insurance reform.  It's time to strip the bill and pass only the good stuff and go back in two years as Dean suggested with a more progressive congress that the current one we now have.
