    ...if both approaches face the risk of defunding in the nearish future?  If either choice is risky, shouldn't we simply choose the better bill?

    Perhaps the ultimate point of the article is that both are based on politically vulnerable funding sources, so the main argument against reconciliation is weak.

    •  The risks of defunding are greater (0+ / 0-)

      for a PO passed through recon.  The other side needs to pass legislation to get rid of the subsidies.  They only need to switch numbers around to get rid of the PO.
