if i read the article right an illegal student is any schoolaged immigrant - from any country - who is in this country illegally - and going to public school.

the phrase is dumb - but we can say so without assuming everyone who writes about immigration problems is racist.

    •  you don't know if they are in the country (0+ / 0-)

'illegally' until they have had a legal process.

for example, people born outside the US can be US citizens & not know it. . . etc.

        •  juancito's argument (0+ / 0-)

seems to be everyone person should be assumed they are here legally until taken in front of an ICE judge, who declares them here otherwise.

unfortunately the courts can't keep up with cases, and it's not exactly easy to convince someone to go to a judge when they know they'll be deported.

          •  You are supporting Juancito's claim. (0+ / 0-)

If everyone is not assumed to be here legally until taken in front of an ICE judge... how is this not reasonable? Juancito is pointing out that people are judged for the color of their skin (which is the logical alternative).

I thought Juancito's post was a bit of an exaggeration until I ready your post.
