  •  Exactly. It's a statement. (5+ / 0-)

We came out in droves in 2008, the largest number of voters in history. We gave Obama a true mandate, not the kind that Bush claimed in 2004.

But we aren't the ones doing the fucking over, we are the ones getting fucked over. When your "progressives", the ones you fought for, that you worked for and gave money to, simply don't even put up a fight against the likes of Leiberman, does it really make any difference whether we elect them or not?

I'm still proud I helped elect Sen. Merkley.

independents and those who don't vote every election. And, at least in my little commuted-to-corner of a Red State, quite a few folks who hadn't voted before.

We won't just lose the progressive voters, we'll lose the independents, and the new, first time voters who were inspired by Barack Obama and shepherded by, well, us.

But, it's not just the votes we lose in 2010, it's the ones that will actively vote for Republicans because they don't like the idea of an individual mandate. Without the PO or Medicare buy-in, the mandate is banning smoking in casinos, motorcycle helmet laws and the 10 day waiting period to buy a handgun all rolled into one.

Good job on Jeff. He looks like a keeper.

All evil needs to succeed is for good people to say "the votes aren't there in the Senate."

That is what swayed me in recent days. The only thing that survived is the very thing Obama campaigned against.

And it is something Dems will get beaten over the head with going forward.

        And rightfully so.
