    Really top notch job reporting on this tragedy.

    As I said some months ago, we have many examples of early warnings, through history. Sometimes we learn from them. Other times, we don't seem to grasp the impact of the situation.  


    And you know, to this very day in the North End of Boston on a really hot summer day some folks still swear they can detect that sweet, slightly sickening smell.

      Both for the kind words and again for your part in introducing me to the tragedy.

      The molasses flood is one of the incidents that, on a number of levels, at least, we seemed to have learned from.  Maybe not everything that was available to be learned, but a good number of lessons.

      And yest, the assertion that you can still smell the molasses in that area is almost universal from the Boston natives who bring up the story.
