    speculation, that's a huge concession for the point that the bill might be worth passing.  I think that many people here would not make that concession.

      I do concede that it might be, but I find arguments that on it's own merits, the bill sucks to be rather more compelling. there is definitely an argument to be made that the bill will exacerbate a number of already existing problems, and potentially create a few new ones. will these be worse overall than what we have now? I just don't know.

      ugh, it's a mess. we really don't need a further emboldened Repub party, and we don't need a weakened Obama. but we do need more energy in the base, and it seems the White House has, for the time being, decided to take on the left because, well, they're the only people they can apparently take on.

      I tend to think in pure short-term political terms, its better for the bill to pass. longer term I find tough to tell. I haven't heard much from the bill's proponents in terms of specific details as to what exactly is going to be fixed or established properly.
