    Yes, that seems foolish to me.
    OTOH, You refused to answer and weren't arrested or anything.

    I'm not sure what this language is aimed at, the quote says "Health and wellness programs",  but either it wouldn't forbid the doctor asking about guns in your case or it would forbid it in cases where it might be more appropriate: someone talking about suicidal feelings for example. (And yes, there are other ways to commit suicide, but guns are perceived to be easy and convenient.)

      if a person discloses suicidal feelings, you move into a zone like the one covered in California under 5150 W&I and the rules change dramatically, and health care professionals are mandated reporters.

      And I'd have gotten away with it, too, if it hadn't been for those meddling kids.(-7.88/-7.23)
