    Remember, that the Repubs didn't have a viable candidate in Conn. and they all supported Lieberman.  Fl is a totally different case.

      Bronxist, geodemographics would be the Independent (Gov. Crist) who would have the advantage of near-universal name recognition and the ability to make news (as the incumbent Governor) at any time.  Whether or not those factors could allow him to prevail in a three-way Senate contest is still uncertain, but there is no doubt that Crist would be able to put up a competitive race.  He may not win, but Crist running as an Independent would insure that Rubio loses, allowing Crist to come back to his GOP roots afterwards to retake control of the party in Florida.
