  •  Florida leads the nation in unemployment (0+ / 0-)

Florida's state legislature is dominated by Republicans.  The Dems can make a strong case that the state's leadership - and Rubio as former Speaker of the House - are the root cause of our dismal economy. Further, our state's finances are in shambles - again, delivered courtesy of the Republicans.

Think it would be relatively easy to fire up the base in Florida by simply pointing to the mess that the Republicans have made of our state's economy and tying Rubio directly to it as a root cause.

    •  Florida does NOT lead the nation in unemployment (0+ / 0-)

You make some valid points, but I can't believe you actually claimed that Florida leads the nation in unemployment.

As of November 2009, it isn't even in the top 5.

There's this place that used to be famous for making cars way north of Florida, perhaps you've heard of it?

Bureau of Labor Statistics Unemployment Rates (November 2009):

      1. Michigan 14.7%
      1. Rhode Island 12.7%
      1. California 12.3%
      1. Nevada 12.3%
      1. South Carolina 12.3%
      1. District of Columbia 11.8%
      1. Florida 11.5%

Granted, those stats are from last month, so perhaps things have changed slightly.  Even so, I somehow doubt you guys have passed Michigan as the highest unemployment rate in the US, or that's all we would be hearing about on the news...
