You might tweak your rationale for Beck being recipient of the Fear and Loathing award. If you're giving the award to the diametric opposite of Hunter Thompson in terms of integrity, honesty, articulation and balls, then I think you've nailed it. Come to think of it, Beck reminds me of the whimpering simpleton hitchhiker that they pick up on the highway in Fear and Loathing.

. . .Even though I liked most of his politics, I didn't much care for Thompson's stands on gun control. He was a true iconoclast, always unpredictable.

The purpose of my Fear and Loathing Award is to highlight the individual who did his or her utmost to sow fear and loathing across the landscape. I could have given the award this year to Representative Michelle Bachmann (R-Minnesota) -- but Glenn Beck outdid her big time.

The Fear and Loathing Award is, in fact, the oldest of my 'Skeeter Bites Awards -- indeed, it actually pre-dates the rest of my awards by two years. It was won in 2005, 2006 and 2007 by Bill O'Reilly, namely for his bogus "War on Christmas" rants.

Last year, I gave the award to Jerome Corsi, for his blatantly libelous book, The Obama Nation, which he had the unmitigated gall to hawk on white-supremacist internet radio shows.
