    events, in this case 8 years of terror, is not all that uncommon. There's actually a diagnosis for it called "traumatic dissociative amnesia."  

    I myself try desperately to incur traumatic dissociative amnesia so as to regain my former sunny optimism but I consistently fail. Kudos to those who can succeed wrt the Bush years if only briefly. ;^}

        I think that horse left the barn while he was still in office.  (Choking on a pretzel while watching TV alone, anyone?)  Bet your rumors are correct, though.  No more need to whiteknuckle it, now that you've already dragged the entire globe into war in service of some grotesque Oedipal complex.  

        I think that reasonable, accessible mental health services long ago would have saved us all a lot of anguish.  Or maybe a street detox someplace.  That'd probably have helped, too.
