I may quibble with some of your points (proportional representation of Senators SOUNDS like a good idea, but it guts the Federal compromise at the heart of our government).

But the general thrust of your post is right on point.

Furthermore, I think we need to ORGANIZE, ORGANIZE, ORGANIZE.  Let's get a group together, brainstorm, and take it from there.

At the very least, DIRECT ACTION IS A MUST!

We can not count on the current system to avoid dramatic systemic failure of America, except for the few corportist elitists in the mix.

I appreciate any quibbles or other constructive feedback.  :-)  Regarding the idea of proportional representation in the Senate, obviously we'd need a Constitutional amendment to pull it off, but regarding the Federal compromise you refer to I have some ideas on how to do proportional representation in a way that respects that compromise.  This is sort of an introductory diary, because I plan to expand on most of what I've discussed here in detail in future postings both here and at my own blog.

For now, just count me in.  Let's leave the quibbling for later...sometimes quibbling at the beginning is like death by a thousand paper cuts.

I like some of your ideas very much on their merits.  I am also of the opinion that Bush was the presidency in 2000 with a handful of rabble in Miami.  The GOP/Fox/Beck threw if not a monkeywrench, a speed bump in Obama's agenda with the rabble of the teafreaks.  WE NEED PROGRESSIVE RABBLE TO FIGHT THEM BACK, PITCHFORK TO PITCHFORK.

WE WILL NOT WIN THIS WITH KEYBOARDS!
