but couldn't some of these explosives be molded into the shape of ...well, tampons? My god, what a nightmare for everyone involved if this could be done and prove difficult to detect.

Ok, I'll take my shoes and my belt off. I'm willing to have my laptop x-rayed. I'll even agree to being patted down if the metal detector beeps. But when it comes to tampon inspection, especially inspection of those already in use, that's where I draw the line.

      No. Effing. Way.

I am hungry for some unrest, I want to push this beyond a peaceful protest, I wanna speak in a language that they'll understand

      •  I don't think you need to worry. (0+ / 0-)

The level of intrusive searches would never be allowed to reach that far. But it could raise a pretty serious question: isn't the whole body patdown/scan thing a charade if an obvious and effective method of smuggling explosives aboard will always remain?

        •  no..because they have to now find a diff way (0+ / 0-)

which takes time to design and test.  Which hopefully gives us time to figure out how to stop them before, or disrupt their plans.

It also would be foolhardy in the extreme to not scan/patdown since that would ensure they use the same method again.

It really isn't a case of closing the barn door after the horse escaped, it has practical and meaningful safeguards but many of them aren't talked about bc we think of it as how it affects us rather than what sort of disruption it can cause.

Remember, this guy was never meant to survive..or the plane.  The govt would be searching/trying/looking to see what method was used and who bombed it.

      cord.

oh geeze, you have given me shivers both at the idea of the security for it and the idea of anyone trying to inspect for it
