between medicaid and medicare.  Medicaid is funded solely through tax dollars.  You can't just provide health care to an additional million or two people without raising taxes to fund those services.  That tax burden is being placed on a smaller and smaller pool of wage slave employees who, after paying higher taxes from smaller paychecks, then have to purchase their own coverage.

It's designed to fail, and we will end up with no coverage for anyone other than the rich who can pay for it.

    •  Kaiser has a very good reveiw of funding for plan (0+ / 0-)

from July right here. There have been changes and tweeks to which part and how much but most of the funding sources are discussed at length, as well as funds generated by savings. We won't know which ones will end up in the bill that survives but most of the sources are laid out in the review by Kaiser.

Those backroom deals did add up to concessions by many of the parties and fairly large savings.

The only tax increases that have ever been discussed aren't for wage slaves but earners in the top 1%, not only six figure folks but $200K and up.

I adamantly disagree that it's designed to fail. That's conspiracy type talk about 60 Democratic senators as well as a Democratic president and I don't think it's helpfull to the discussion.

It's the largest best piece of social legislation in 40 years and a big change. Changes are scary but they are there to help people such as the diarist, and he does need some help with the cost of his health care and health care insurance.
