  •  Webb and Warner aren't/weren't Progressives. (6+ / 0-)

What do you mean by progressive?  Webb and Warner certainly weren't progressives by the definition used by most on this site.

    What do you mean?

    •  P.S. I did see this... (3+ / 0-)

I tell them that I want good schools for our children, safe streets and communities, clean air and water, politicians who tell the truth, ethical businesses, jobs that pay a good wage and come with good benefits, access to affordable health care and when we get old, respect and dignity.

But that doesn't answer my question.  No one campaignes against good schools or clean water.  Saying you are for them means nothing.

No one campaigns against good schools, clean air, or anything that we are supposedly agree on.  What happens instead is that you hear members of Congress, Wolf included, screaming about the deficit and talking about cutting programs.  What programs?  Education, Environment, Health Care.... and the list goes on. That's how they legislate away progress.  Not me.

We do need to pay for all this stuff eventually.  Otherwise you'd just be digging us into a deeper fiscal hole.  Digging a hole for a good cause is still digging a hole.

There's plenty of fat in our current budget.  Tell me where you'll cut and how you'll get those cuts passed and I'll get excited, especially since cutting anything in the Federal budget will hurt the Northern VA voters you are courting.

OTOH, I live in VA's 11th, so I'm not your target audience.

        •  Yep, instead of saying................... (0+ / 0-)

.............. they are aganst funding education or protection regulations for things like food, water rescourses, energy costs or social security nets like Medicare and Medicaid.

They instead call it going after entitlement spending.

Corporate donations to elections is not free speech, it is legalized bribery.
