  •  We've been over and over this... (0+ / 0-)

    "I'm entitled "

No you're not, you live in DC. DC was set up this way on purpose.

    •  Yes, I am. I'm an American citizen. (0+ / 0-)

DC was set up this way in a different time, and was set up this way largely because the people who founded it didn't imagine it having a very large non-slave population. (Emphasis, of course, is on another instance in which the founders of this country got things completely wrong.)

This is 2010, and 600,000 American citizens - some 50,000 more than live in the state of Wyoming, which gets two Senators, a Representative, and the right to govern its own affairs without Congress looking over its shoulder - are being disenfranchised. Our progressive values demand that we take action on this - particularly seeing as how this action would require nothing more than a majority vote in Congress and the President's signature.

Call Congress and demand 2 Senators, 1 VOTING Rep, and full home rule for DC citizens. Anything less is un-American.

      •  It had nothing to do with any of that. (0+ / 0-)

I would refer your to the endless diaries of months back on this very subject.

        But I won't.

        "Our progressive values"

My progressive values say that I should get my sidewalks cleaned with federal tax dollars like yours are.  What makes you so special?  Why should I have to pay EXTRA TAXES to have mine cleaned?  I'm paying to have mine AND YOURS cleaned.

        Not fair.

        Undemocratic.

And yet those folks in Wyoming are paying to have both their AND YOUR sidewalks cleaned.

You can't have it both ways, sorry.  You want a senator?  Move to a state.

But DC doesn't have senators, and for good reason.
