    Actually, right now, the Gulf Stream is flowing up along the side of Greenland, and Greenland is about 30F above average right now.

    However, the extra warmth in Greenland is causing the jet stream to have a sharp kink in it, which pushes arctic air down the center of the US.

    So, it's only cold here because it's warm elsewhere. The global average is still climbing, but the local situation is a bit out of the ordinary.
