I read your post and realized... unless the Army, Navy and Marines gets on the side of the CRAZIES, we have nothing to fear.

And of course the Army, Navy and Marines will not get on the side of the CRAZIES - they are not full of rightwing conservatives. They vote Democratic of course, right?

      •  As long as they remember their oath... (0+ / 0-)
The below is taken from www.military.com.

The Oath of Enlistment (for enlistees):

"I, __, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

The Oath of Office (for officers):

"I, __ (SSAN), having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of ___ do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance tot he same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservations or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God."

Their oath is to the Constitution, not to any one party. If they take their oath seriously and don't decide that their faith 'overrides' it, we can be confident. Since they swore this oath to God, I don't see how they can break it in favor of a seditionist movement, but no one has ever accused religions of being logical.

What I fear is a split in the armed forces between those that remember and obey their oaths and those that don't do so. That way lies civil war.

If it should come to that, we will know indeed that the far-Right is seditionist and can be dealt with accordingly. Let's hope it never goes that far. I have no desire to see the US imitate the old USSR. I don't think most of the world wants that, either.

likely to vote Dem that retired military or career military peple who've been in the service a few decades. It's a mixed bag.

Obama beat McCain in the NC county (Cumberland) that Fort Bragg is in. Airbawn for Obama.

I have flow thru Detriot in recent months and the number of TSA women in hijab is alarming. It's like the foxes are overseeing the chicken coop -- A RW blogger.
