Actually all I know about HTML is what I've picked up here on Daily Kos over the years.  By background and inclination, I'm a social sciences and humanities person whose technical skills are rather limited and, for one reason or another, I've always favored the qualitative over the quantitative in matters large and small.

In simple terms, here's an example: I tried to repost the second portion of this diary's opening/tip jar comment in TexMex's diary about Haiti.  There were only 5 or 6 simple HTML codes (blockquote, bold, and italics) in the comment.  The system today would not even accept those.  Now, as a personal rule, I pay attention to embedding such HTML codes as I'm formatting the cartoons saved on PhotoBucket or Image Shack and linking to the source.  Since I use hundreds of such HTML codes in a graphics-intensive intensive diary like this, I know that it is virtually impossible to go back and correct a minor error after the fact.

So, while I'm certainly not perfect, I am, generally speaking, detail-oriented -- the college professors who told us to be either micro or macro in life were wrong! -- while not losing sight of the bigger picture.  The long and short of it is that I remain optimistic that DK 4.0 will rectify these annoying limitations of the present DK system.

As a suggestion, I -- and I'm sure many other diarists -- would welcome a diary from someone who is HTML-savvy and can write a diary explaining in plain English all of the shortcuts and insider HTML tips.

I also wanted to thank all of you for your very generous comments throughout this diary.  Comments like these are what provide encouragement and incentive to keep this series going.  So, thanks one and all.  :-)

Here's another cartoon about The Tonight Show.
