  •  Disgruntled Progressives? (0+ / 0-)

Please.  If the Dems lose this thing, it's because they were weak, lazy, and inconsistent, and totally incapable of beating the tea-baggers at the PR game.  Trying to preemptively change history by claiming that "disgruntled progressives" carried the day for Brown is stupid.

    •  I refer to the "progressives" openly rooting and (0+ / 0-)

voting for Brown.  You can't seriously deny that these people exist.  I'd think that these people would be proud of their votes (they are a very prideful lot) rather than running away from them.

BTW, you're changing what I wrote.  I mentioned Brown's "coalition" carrying the day if he wins, not just one part of it.  Disgruntled so-called "progressives" that are voting and rooting for Brown are part of his coalition by definition.

      •  The Problem With That Argument... (0+ / 0-)

...is that there isn't a Progressive cohort to this coalition.  Doubtless, you can find one or two individuals who claim to be "Progressives For Brown" or the like, but a couple of anecdotes don't make a trend.  And since it's doubtful that a single one of these so-called "progressives" actually has a track record of supporting left-of-center policies or candidates, their use of the term is simply untrue.

Additionally, the fact that disgruntled actual Progressives complaining about Coakley doesn't make them part of Brown's "coalition".  Admittedly some of those folks may not vote in this election.  In spite of how some would like to twist that fact, it does not make them into some sort of stealth tea-bagger.

So, in short:  Yes; I do deny these people exist.
