I am very angry these days with my husband and brother-in-law for voting for GWB in 2004 because there was something about Kerry they just couldn't stomach.  Both of them are of his generation and both are Viet Nam vets.  It's thanks to them and others like them that we got that monumentally stupid SC ruling yesterday in favor of "free speech".  Yeah, the majority ruled for free speech but really undermined that of most "individual" American voters.  Just wait and see.

I genuinely do not comprehend how any sentient thinking American can vote for a Republican at the national level, or any other for that matter.

the behavior of voters in punishing the party in power when their lives get worse? Remember how Reagan got in? "Are you better off now than you were four years ago?"

      •  I get your point, but stand by mine (0+ / 0-)

Cannot understand how any thinking and sentient American could vote for a party that is so damn reactionary, and as Juan Cole says, the GOP is simply a party of 'dirty tricks", which is apparently one of their strong suits.

To answer your question, I am better off than I was 4 years ago, cause I am retired, and took my savings out of the stock market in 2007, so my husband and I live modestly but comfortably.

P.S., been out of town for the past week with no computer access.  Oh, the horrors!!!
