I'm not above, or against, criticism of "teh Dems", heh.

But I do think it's important for that to be principled, and that, in order for it to be rational, must also take a lot more into account, than mere simplistic absolutist idealist platitudes and opportunist slagging, for the sake of slagging.

Criticism should be framed, I think, in clear comparison and contrast, to what the Republicans have done, and can be expected to do, if they seize back the power.

For example, I do not believe there is any such thing as "clean coal" or "safe nukes", and I very much deplore the way Obama, Biden, and others keep asserting that false meme.

But, oh well.  The fuckers keep saying it, and we have not succeeded, yet, in making them STFU on that, lol.

I can only hope that they will at least remain true to their explicit rhetoric, and will thus have to eventually announce that after much research, study, consultation and consideration, they have no choice but to "now, finally" come to the conclusion that, in fact, there is no such thing as clean coal and safe nukes, lol, and that we shall therefore have to put our energy into other paradigms.

As long as that happens, sooner or later (preferably sooner), I don't mind them hustling the Republicans, and even throwing them a few bones, in that regard, meanwhile, I guess.

And if they don't figure it out themselves, then we'll just have to make them, lol, with a Congress that will draw the line, and set more correct priorities...which will not be accomplished by electoral boycott or splitting.

It's a sticky issue of principle.  I'm not necessarily against research, per se, to see if such solutions as "clean" and "safe" can be developed... just extremely skeptical.

If solutions appear that convince a substantial enough portion of the environmental scientists to concur with going that way, then I'm willing to be convinced.  I'm no luddite, heh.

Meanwhile, however, there is that little issue of how much we can trust the Republicans and the Chamber of Commerce to even TRY to do the right thing, in terms of the environment, or any other given topic, and it seems like a no brainer to me, that the Democratic practice and program overall has proven far superior, even if far from perfect.

Ultimately, the only material accountability is the elections.  Merely freaking out now, because things are not where we want them to be, presently, is no solution. The only material, effective solution is to elect different, better Democratic representatives, period.

Surely you can see my point...demoralization, discouragement, alienation of the electorate, advising people to just give up on the Democrats, to boycott or split the vote, is NOT going to get us the results that we want and need, but will, rather, serve only the interests of the enemy.
