But in the end, all that matters is who actually gets elected.

I am not buying the "conventional wisdom" that we "need" the Blue Dogs.

What we need is better Democrats to step up and contend, house to house, door to door, relentlessly, even in "conservative" districts, where it has been proven that a very substantial increase in voter turnout can, has, and will defy the supposed "wisdom" that one has to be a Blue Dog traitor, to "win".

The more progressives we elect, the more juice (and actual, material pressure) Obama and the Progressive Caucus will have, to do the right thing.  While we may not succeed in every instance, we are guaranteed to fail, if we don't try.

Blue Dogs are eventually going to have to drop that treasonous moniker and perspective, though, as things develop, I think.

If they are seriously willing to compromise and work out legitimate, positive solutions, then they don't need to set themselves up as some kind of "loyal" opposition.

There is no such thing as "socially liberal, but fiscally conservative".  There is no such thing as a "liberal" fascist.

Elements of the bourgeoisie have, historically, and can, now, be won over to the revolution.  It can be tricky, how you draw the line, such that they can feel compelled to step across it, to our side, rather than being shoved further to the other side.

It's important to keep the dialog going, and to keep it principled, and rational.

But it's NOT necessary to kiss Blue Dog ass.

Clearly, the present health care bill, as it now stands, is simply not adequate, and thus we need a substantially increased Progressive Caucus plurality, and substantially fewer Blue Dogs and Republicans, to correct that, in 2010 and 2012.

What we have now is what we've got, and no amount of freaking out is going to change the present balance of power...unless it's all aimed at electing more better Democrats, going forward.
