      Seriously, whoever wrote that character in The Golden Girls knew some southern Republicans.

      They're not all malevolent... or, at least, they don't mean to be.  Some of these people are fairly kind-hearted and they mean well, but lawdamercy they're dumb.  And they're eager to be fooled.

      Just in the time I was typing this reply, a Republican co-worker asked me what Avatar was about, and I told her she'd probably like it 'cuz she's a big sci-fi fan... but she said she was scared to go because it had "opposing views" in it, whatever that means.  But, she's also the co-worker who was afraid to buy an underweight dog because it might grow up to have health problems, like "it might have a liver!"
