    I have been hearing for years about people who would vote if they just had something to vote for. It has not worked out.
    I am afraid most of the incentives in politics are negative ones. Republicans certainly seem to think so.
    I grew up in a Republican family, switched about 1967. My parents prided themselves on voting in every election. So do I. I grew up taking it for granted that I would always vote. I have heard Republicans talk in terms of voting in every election, as a civic duty.
    We need to start promoting the idea of voting in every election if we are to be an effective political party.
