CSPAN is great.  I wish I had more time to get info. live.  Some days I do, other days I am buried with work which is why I turn to blogs for info.

Agree with you on NYT online.  I find invaluable.

Also, I agree with you on BBC news and PBS.  If I do catch a news show, it's BBC and/or PBS.

I think when you come down to it most of the front pagers use the sources you name.  Some journals that are drawn from more dubious sources such as Politico.

The shortest distance between two points is never a straight line.

    •  I will check a Politico source when my attention (0+ / 0-)

is drawn to it by a debate, that's all. I find them as 'partisan' as Fox and am not really interested in that perspective other than to know it exists in order to combat lies and distortions if necesary.

During the twenty odd years i was working at various television networks, doing documentaries, it was SOP to have all FOUR (thats all there were in the 60's and 70's) network channels running simultaneously, so i got very used to 'thin-slicing' (as Malcom Gladwell would put it) information as it came actoss the transom.  The 80's and 90's were spent in radio and it was also SOP to have an encylcopediac knowledge of what was happening int the planet.

Now i am more or less 'retired' from the active outside media world I can choose my own sources.

      Thanks for your interest.
